Help

Updated October 12, 2026

Write to support@alkorlabs.com. A person reads every message, usually within two working days. If something looks wrong in a timesheet, tell us the pay period and the job’s overtime setting (no need to send your data).

Trial and purchases

What happens when the 14-day trial ends?

Nothing you already have is locked. After the trial you can still:

  • open and read every shift, job and pay period;
  • create and send PDF timesheets for any period;
  • export CSV, save a backup and restore from one;
  • keep syncing through iCloud.

Adding new shifts and starting the timer need Pro: Pro Lifetime ($24.99 once) or Pro Yearly ($14.99 a year). The first screen tells you this before the trial starts, and the days left are shown in Settings and on the Tallyhours Pro screen.

Does the trial cost anything? Will it turn into a subscription?

No. The trial is a $0 item in the App Store called “14-day Trial”. You get it with Start 14-day free trial on the first screen. It is never charged, never renews and never becomes a subscription. Because the App Store remembers it, deleting and reinstalling the app does not reset it.

Lifetime or yearly: what’s the difference?

Both unlock exactly the same thing. Pro Lifetime is one payment of $24.99 and you’re done. Pro Yearly is $14.99 a year and renews automatically until you cancel. You can buy either at any time, also during the trial, from Settings → Tallyhours Pro.

How do I restore a purchase on a new iPhone or after reinstalling?
  1. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you used to buy.
  2. Open Settings → Tallyhours Pro and tap Restore Purchases.

Pro Lifetime, an active Pro Yearly and your trial start date all come back. Your shifts come back through iCloud sync (if it was on) or from a backup file.

How do I cancel Pro Yearly, or get a refund?

Cancel in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Tallyhours at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Pro stays on until the end of the year you paid for; after that your history and exports remain, as after the trial. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Pay periods and overtime

How do I set a bi-weekly pay period and its start date?
  1. Open the Jobs tab and tap the job.
  2. Tap Pay period and choose Bi-weekly.
  3. Set the anchor date: the first day of any real pay period, past or future. Example: if one period ran Sunday October 4 to Saturday October 17, 2026, pick October 4.

Tallyhours repeats the 14-day period forward and backward from that date, so history lines up too. Not sure? Look at a recent pay stub: the “period start” date is your anchor.

Other choices: Weekly (with its start day), Semi-monthly (the 1st and 16th by default; both days can be changed) and Monthly (with its start day). Each job has its own pay period.

How do the overtime rules work?

Each job has its own overtime settings, under Jobs → [job] → Overtime. Pick a starting point and change any number:

  • Weekly over 40: hours past 40 in a workweek are overtime. You choose the day the workweek starts.
  • Daily over 8 and 12, plus weekly over 40: hours past 8 in a day are overtime, hours past 12 in a day are double time, and regular hours past 40 in the week become overtime (so nothing is counted twice).
  • None: all hours at the regular rate.

Overtime is paid at 1.5× and double time at 2× the hourly rate unless you set your own overtime rate or multipliers. Sick, vacation and holiday hours are shown separately and never count toward overtime. Jobs are never mixed: each job’s overtime is worked out on its own. Because weekly overtime needs the whole workweek, a week that crosses two pay periods is still counted correctly.

This is an estimate, not legal or payroll advice. Overtime rules depend on your state, your job and your employer. Use the settings that match your agreement.

I worked two stretches in one day. How do I log a split shift?

On the Today tab, stop the timer when you leave and start it again when you come back; both stretches go into the same day. To type it in, open the day and tap Add segment. The gap between stretches is unpaid. A shift that runs past midnight stays on the day it started.

Timesheets and data

How do I send a timesheet, and how does it get signed?

Open the Timesheet tab, choose the job (or all jobs) and the period, then tap Share PDF to send it by Mail or Messages, print it, or save it to Files. The PDF has two signature lines: worker and approver. Sign it on paper, or sign it on your iPhone with Markup (in Files or Mail, tap the pen icon). Turn off Show pay if you want a timesheet with hours only.

How do I bring my hours in from another app with CSV?
  1. Export a CSV file from the other app or spreadsheet and save it to Files.
  2. In Tallyhours, open Settings → Import CSV and choose the file.
  3. Check the column matching (Tallyhours guesses columns such as Date, Start, End, In, Out, Hours, Duration, Job, Client and Notes) and the preview, then import.

Rows with a date and a number of hours but no times are added as a block starting at 9:00. A simple file looks like this:

Date,Start,End,Break,Job,Notes
2026-10-05,08:00,12:00,0,Chen household,
2026-10-05,13:00,17:30,0,Chen household,school pickup
2026-10-06,07:30,16:00,30,Chen household,
How do I get my data out as CSV?

On the Timesheet tab, tap Export CSV. You get one row per stretch of work with date, job, client, start, end, break, hours, kind, rate, estimated pay, tips, mileage, expenses and note. It opens in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. Export works during and after the trial.

Backup and iCloud: how do I keep my hours safe?
  • iCloud sync keeps your data in your own private iCloud database and on every iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account. Turn it on or off in Settings → iCloud Sync. No account with us is involved.
  • Backup: Settings → Backup → Save Backup writes one file to Files (or anywhere you choose). Restore from Backup adds what is missing and never deletes anything.

Both work during and after the trial.

Timer, Live Activity and reminders

What is the Live Activity, and why don’t I see it?

While the timer runs, Tallyhours shows the job and the time worked so far on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with a Stop button so you can end the shift without opening the app.

If it doesn’t appear, open iOS Settings → Tallyhours and turn on Live Activities. The timer keeps counting even if the Live Activity is off or the app is closed: the start time is saved the moment you tap Start.

Can the app remind me to clock in or out?

Yes. Each job can remind you at its usual start and end times on the days you pick. Tallyhours also reminds you the day before a pay period closes, and asks “still working?” if a timer has been running for 12 hours. All reminders are local notifications; turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.

Is the pay figure what I will be paid?

It is an estimate from the rates and rules you entered. Tallyhours does not calculate taxes or withholdings and is not payroll. Use it to keep records and to check a paycheck, and ask your employer or agency if the numbers differ.
